About Us

Appleby Westward is the SPAR wholesaler and retailer for the West of England, operating from Saltash, Cornwall. With around 2,000 colleagues, we support independent and company-owned stores across the region, from Chichester to Land’s End, and up to Bristol and Salisbury. Our stores offer convenience groceries, food-to-go, Post Office services, and more — all while supporting local communities and our charity partner, Marie Curie.

About Paignton

Located on the Devon coast, Paignton is known for its beaches and welcoming community. Our local SPAR is a favourite among residents, offering fresh groceries, in-store bakery, and convenient services.

The Role

We’re looking for a Customer Service Assistant to join our friendly team at SPAR Dartmouth Road, working 3 days a week (Thursday to Saturday, 2pm–10pm).

In this role, you’ll be at the heart of the store, with responsibilities including:

• Providing excellent customer service with a warm, friendly approach

• Keeping the store clean, tidy, and well-stocked

• Accurately handling transactions and cash

• Assisting with stock management and eye-catching displays

• Ensuring compliance with food safety, legal regulations, and age-restricted sales

• Maintaining a safe environment for customers and colleagues
