Our SPAR convenience stores are at the heart of the community. At our store in St. Agnes, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Assistant Manager to join the team on a full-time basis, 35-40 hours per week.   You will be an influential and trusted member of our management team, role modelling excellent customer service and store standards, positively engaging colleagues, and maximising store performance.   St. Agnes SPAR is a relied upon busy community store throughout the year with the additional increase seasonal trade throughout the summer that significantly increases the footfall and sales turnover.  In addition to grocery, fresh, frozen and ambient, the store also offers, hot food to go, newspapers, lottery, amongst other services. 

The Role:

The role reports directly to the Store Manager.  You will be flexible, forward-thinking, innovative, have excellent people leadership and management skills along with a demonstrable passion for customer service excellence.

The store is open every day of the year except for Christmas day and therefore this role requires you to cover various shifts including morning, afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

You will be responsible for delivering excellent customer service and ensure that our customers find everything they need in an inviting, safe, clean and well stocked store. As an Assistant Manager you will also be responsible for all people related issues, including payroll, rotas, training, coaching, performance and attendance.   You will also ensure that the store not only passes all compliance audits but that this is a priority for all colleagues to exceed in and be proud of.  This includes compliance with all legislative requirements as well as all Company policies, procedures, and processes. This will include health and safety, food handling and age restricted sales, profit protection, people policies. 

Applicant Requirements:

The successful candidate will be flexible, enthusiastic with proven management experience preferably within the retail/convenience store industry. You should have excellent customer service and communication skills and can build trusted relationships with colleagues and customers. A positive attitude is key to leading and managing a team and achieving results with the ability to inspire others in line with our leadership behaviours. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise your workload is a must. You will be resilient and have excellent problem-solving skills.
