Accounts Assistant

The Cantillon Group, an award-winning convenience retailer in Cork, is seeking a highly organised, enthusiastic, and motivated Accounts Assistant to join our dynamic team.

This is a part-time position (three or four days per week, approximately 25–35 hours, to be agreed) with office hours and no weekend work. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone seeking flexible hours and a strong work-life balance.

Salary: €35,000 – €36,600 per annum DOE (based on a 5-day work week; part-time appointments will be paid on a pro-rata basis).

Key Responsibilities

Accounts & Finance Duties

  • Process creditor invoices, credit notes, and supplier payments accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Match invoices to supporting documentation (POs, GRNs, approvals) and follow up on discrepancies.

  • Reconcile monthly creditor statements.

  • Reconcile bank accounts and daily cash sheets; investigate discrepancies.

  • Liaise with store managers on queries and discrepancies.

  • Provide backup support for payroll processing as required.

HR & Office Administration Duties

  • Assist the HR Manager with general HR tasks, including screening candidates and organising interviews.

  • Manage incoming calls to Head Office.

  • Provide general administrative support to the wider team as needed.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Previous accounts experience in a similar role.

  • Payroll experience.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

  • Ability to accurately and efficiently enter sensitive financial and business data.

  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Sage Payroll & Sage Accounting software.

  • Experience in a retail environment.
